Ames rooms
The Ames Room is an optical illusion created by the English scientist and mathematician Sir William Ames in 1648. The illusion is a rectangular room with a false perspective. The Ames Room appears to be larger at the front than at the back. The illusion is caused by the way the room is lit and the way the walls and floor are painted. The Ames Room is still used to test the perceptual abilities of students.
